Studio Policies
We welcome and thank you for making BMS studio your home for your student’s music education. Students are paying for a time spot and a teacher. However, substitute teachers may come in to teach for the teacher. Please see our studio policies below:
Studio Hours: Studio business hours are 4:30pm-9:00pm Monday- Thursday, 4:30pm-7:30pm Fridays, & Saturdays from 9am-1pm. We are closed Sundays. Some teachers offer lessons in-person or virtual outside of these times. Contact the studio for more info.
Studio Communication: News & Updates will be email blasted out to families. Please make sure to make sure our emails do not end up in spam. Notifications will also be put into the front page of the parent portal and signs in the studio. Please make sure to pay attention to any upcoming dates, changes etc.
Registration Fee: Registration fees are $30 per family.
Tuition: Tuition is $130 / month – 30 minutes, $190- 45 minutes, & $250/- 60 minute lessons regardless of whether it is a 3-4- or 5-week month. Tuition is due by the 10th of every month. An invoice will be emailed to students on the first of every month. After 14 days a $5 late fee will be applied.
Sibling Discounts: We do offer sibling and multi-instrumental discounts.
Payment: All tuition is to be paid via auto-pay or zelle autopay. Zelle autopay is only available to be set up on the CLIENT'S side. The studio cannot arrange this for you but can assist. Upon enrollment, families will input their payment information and enroll in auto pay.
Makeup Lessons: Studio policy allows two make-up lesson per semester. If a lesson is going to be missed, please notify your teacher or the studio. Notifications must be given two hours before the lesson or no makeup service credit will be given. If a scheduled makeup lesson is missed or canceled, the makeup is forfeit. NO EXCEPTIONS. If your teacher cancels a lesson, they will provide a makeup lesson for each missed lesson. Teachers may opt to have a substitute come in for them (as makeup times may not be available). If a sub is provided and the student opts to not take the lesson with the sub, there will be no makeup service credit given.
MAKEUP SERVICE CREDITS WILL EXPIRE 180 DAYS AFTER ISSUED. NO EXCEPTIONS!
Virtual Lessons: Most (not all) teachers do teach virtually. In the event students can’t make their lesson but are available, they can request a virtual lesson. Makeups can also be virtual. This is available by teacher. Contact the studio for more info.
Semester breakout: Jan-April/May-Aug/Sept-Dec. Please contact Cristina or the front desk for any questions.
Summer Months: Students who pause lessons for the summer have the option to hold their time slot by paying ½ tuition per month they are gone. Tuition for holding a spot is non-refundable and does not serve as a credit for lessons paid while away. This ensure our teachers are paid for not filling spots. Tuition is full price once student returns.
Holidays: While there is no extra charge for months with 5 weeks. Full tuition will be charged for months with holiday closures. There are no makeups for lessons falling on closed holidays.
Our studio closes to observe the following holidays: Spring break following Katy ISD, Memorial Day, July 4th, One week in summer (TBD every year). Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving week following Katy ISD, and Christmas weeks following Katy ISD. Students who pause lessons in November and December will forfeit their lesson time unless the time is held by paying ½ tuition. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Recitals: BMS offers 2 recitals a year. There is a recital fee due one month before the recital day. Recitals are typically on a Saturday. Saturday students who participate in the recital will not receive a makeup credit for the recital, but will have a discounted recital fee upon request. Saturday students who do not participate in the recital can receive a ½ makeup credit upon request.
Studio Force Majeure closures: In the event of a studio closure due to weather conditions, or any other unexpected circumstances, no makeup credits will be given.
Studio Refund/Withdraw Policy: BMS will not issue refunds or pro rate tuition with the exception of a mid-month start date. We ask that families who are withdrawing from lessons give the office a proper notice of and finish the current month they are in as refunds will not be given. Notice of withdrawal must be given before the end of the month so avoid future charges. Notices of immediate withdrawal after the 1st of the current month will result in tuition still being charged.
